Early November in PEI

Greetings all,
We  try to keep current here at the Villa and decided it would be fun to have a blog and share our everyday activites with family and friends. We hope other seniors' groups will blog with us and help us get through the winter. We will post some photos now and then just for fun.

This week we made some apple tarts and shared them around with everyone. We purchased the pie dough from the Clyde River WI. It was a great time saver and rolled out easily. We made our own apple  filling in an electric frying pan. It works very well and scented  the Villa with a delicious aroma of apple and cinnamon. Bea rolled out the dough expertly , even though she can't see very well. We put them in the oven after they were filled and told jokes and stories as we waited for them to bake. To use the left over dough we rolled it out and spread it with a little melted butter and cinnamon and rolled it up like a jelly roll and cut them into small portions and baked them on a pie plate. They were delicious too.

That evening we had a musical group, "Brian  and Friends" perform for us. They brought mandolins, accordians, guitars and a fiddler and sang lots of wonderful songs. It is so kind of them to come out and share with residents and staff their love of music.

Next week we look forward to a Remembrance Day Ceremony with Reverend George Power, Dennis Wells on the coronet and the Borden Legion.

Busy times and lots of fun and laughter make the days go quickly.
